Mohr replaces Braga at UFN 9 against Pellegrino, finalizes card -- UPDATE
With UFC Fight Night 9 less than five days away, the last-minute replacement for lightweight Kurt Pellegrino (9-2) has been announced, finalizing a fight card that has been marred by injuries.
Nate Mohr (6-3), according to MMAWeekly.com, will fill-in for Wander Braga (10-0), who was unable to secure a work visa from his native country, Brazil, in time for the bout.
Here's a snip from Pellegrino on the situation:
"I'm disappointed, I was really looking forward to fighting Wander Braga, and I'm sure he was looking forward to fighting me too. I was doing a lot of stand-up for this fight and so I'm not really going to go off my gameplan at all. I'm going to keep this fight standing. I know this kid's a real good kickboxer, but I'm not really too worried about it, because I train with Hermes [Franca] and he hits like a Mac truck and kicks like a freight train, so I'm pretty much covered there."
I'm not familiar with Mohr at all. However, this will be without question, his first UFC fight, and most likely his biggest challenge to date.
Pellegrino is a tough dude, training with Hermes Franca and the rest of the fighters in the Florida-based camp called The Armory.Mohr will certainly have his work cut out for him
Frank Mir, Jeff Joslin, Anthony Torres and Hector Ramirez are the other scratches for the event, which will air on Spike television this Thursday, April 5, from The Pearl in Las Vegas, Nevada, preceding the debut episode of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) at 10 p.m.

Mohr is a tough kid. dont count him out. And as for it being a shitty card. Go find some other fights to watch on tv. Oh yea there are none. Shut up and watch it, and be glad its free!

That figures, Kurt gets out of an ass kicking again. The only reason he has won his last two fights is because, the last two fighters are less experienced. He would have gotton his ass kicked if the other two were able to fight. Tied of watching him win fighting losers. Come on Kurt fight some real fighters so we all can watch your ass get a BEATING. Oh yeah BITCH need a tissue. Sincerely Yours, NOT locobe-otch

I’m sure mix alot up there has lots of fight experience. He should probably go on Pro’s vs. Joes and step in with a fighter.
As far as the Mohr kid, from the look of his punches and how clean they looked, Kurt should be happy he caught the ankle lock. If it stayed up, Mohr probably would have tore his head off.
Ive seen Mohr fight at a few local shows and he usually tears through his oppenents.
What did they give him, five days or so notice to go in front of 1,000,000 viewers and fight? Thats a true fighter! I just hope the UFC will give him another shot to see what he has and if he has what it takes to compete in the big time. As anyone who else grappled, boxed or been in the ring knows, everyone gets stuck or caught once in a while.
