UFC Quick Quote: Tito Ortiz is broke

"Only doing business!!!!!!!!!!!
So, everyone is giving me shit for the Dana fight... No one knows what really went on. Let me tell my side of what real went on. Me and Dana had this argeement to box each other. I told Dana we should put it on video and sell it. He said 'yes that a good idea.' So Spike came to Big Bear before the Chuck fight for two days. Used my time from training to shoot for the Spike special. I said that was fine. I took two week off after the Chuck fight. Then started my boxing training. You all have to understand that Dana was almost a pro boxer. I was going to take this fight serious. Jenna was helping me with the deal because I seen this as a big money maker. She ask if there was a contract for the fight? She made call's to Dana to get the deal done. Craig from Spike called Jenna back to discuss is deal. She asked for executive producer rights for me. Since it was my idea. Help to promote Punishment Athletics for the fight and other deal points. Craig said he would talk to Dana and get back to us. After that I cancel a few appearance's that I had to do. Alot of money that was givin up. So I could train for the fight. I had to get all of my medicals done as a normal fight. I got my eye done then we got a call from Craig. He said that Dana say that they are not going to shoot the fight or cover it in anyway. So this was a real lose, lose situation for me. I lost out on money for appearances. Now I was losing out on promotion and big dollars for the PPV. He didn't want to cut me in on the deal. So as a business man I couldn't do the fight. I have a very big fight with Evans. Why would I risk my health and that fight for free? I wasn't going to make anything for it? I was not going to get taken advantage of as a fighter or a business man. You tell me if I made the right decision? Hopefully this will get ironed out and will be done right the next time. Just trying to do business....."

What do you mean Tito is broke? He said it is a money issue, period. Seems like you guys are trying to lead your readers in the wrong direction. I’m losing respect.

This is a funny man. He asked to fight Dana to feel like a big guy when signing his contract. Then he wants it to be his personal brain child to promote himself and get paid. I said he would cry injured like a girl and blame Dana saying he put him in injured against Rashad. He will always be an excuse making loser. “You all have to understand that Dana was almost a pro boxer.” Wow scared of getting slapped around like I said.

WHAT A MAJOR DOUCHE BAG.
HE’S GONNA FIGHT AN OUT OF SHAPE EXECUTIVE – AND THAT’S A MONEY MAKER?
THATS A SIDE SHOW AT BEST – NOT A MONEY MAKER!
TITO, STICK THAT ASCOT UP YOUR ASS AND GO WORK AT BABY’S R US – YOU FREAKEN COWARDLY IDOT. IF I EVER SEE YOU ON THE STREET, I’LL ROLL YOU OUT LIKE WHOLESALE CARPETING – YOU FEARFULL PUSS.

What a puss! I thought the fight was for charity. He wants to get rich off of it? Come on Tito, handle your shit and keep the porno chick out of your business. I am sure he will have a sex tape next.

Honestly, I’m not even going to read it before I respond. It’s unsettling easy to hang my head in shame for this guy. He really knows how to reassure the definition of, “Putting his foot in his mouth”. That is all. Take it from here, boys.

First of, Tito will not sign his contract with UFC unless Dana box with him so he can beat the shit out of his boss. Dana reluctantly agreed to it knowing he has not boxed for years just to get him back to UFC. Dana has gone way out of his ways to comply to Tito. The exhibition sparring was not supposed to mean who is going to make money but to vent out Tito’s frustration and get back on his boss. They both agreed to do this for charity. If Dana does not think Tito was serious, Dana would not be training for it. After consulting with his girlfriend, Tito came to realize that he is not going to make money out of it which was not the original idea in the first place and this is a lose-lose situation. If he beats Dana, which he is supposed to and if he loses to Dana, it make the matter worse. So being a dumbass that he is, you think he can come up with this kind of thought and analogy? No matter what, Dana kept his end of the deal. Now we can all lay it out to Tito for chickening out. Tito will always come out with an excuse no matter what. He likes to show off but when it comes down to do the walking, he disappears. Tito, where is your integrity and balls?

Just messing around with the headline — most folks here can draw their own opinions on the context of Ortiz’ own words. I’m not trying to lead readers anywhere. If I was, I’d lead them to click on the ads or buy merchandise, or something that actually benefited the site.
I just find it a bit ridiculous that he has a clause written into his contract, talks about the match constantly during the last few months, and the bails last-minute because the money isn’t right. Well, I think it would have been smart to iron those details out when the concept was conceived. So, color me a little disgruntled … even though I’d expect to get paid for the appearance, especially if the UFC is going to make a dime.
The entire situation was and is a trainwreck and a total waste of time. I’m done with it.

I really don’t know what to say.I’m a reluctant tito fan.I like him coming to the ring to the eminem classic"mosh".I like the american/mexico flag he always has and i developed a liking of him with the way he treated matt hamill on the tuf show. But damn,he’s suppose to be one of the top 10 or 20 mma guys in the business and he’s always talking about how his striking has improved so much.Does anybody know what Danas amatuer boxing record was,if he had alot of KOs,or when the last time he fought was.I did not know the fight was suppose to be for charity,if thats the case i’d say tito better win his next fight convincingly or the UFC fans and management will have no problem completely turning their back on him and let him fade to obscurity or dominate one of the minor leagues nobody watches anyways.I hope its not true about Tito. But if it is, Fuck him!The world does not revolve around him and he seriously miscalculates his star power.

1. His porn-star girlfriend has made him a money hungry “business-man.”
2. He is scared.
I hope Tito catches a few knees, and hopefully a round house kick to his big fat head. Go away Tito, make a porn movie with your whore dike girl friend if you want to make some bread. Of all girls he could’ve gotten, he picks one that has had 100+ dicks up in her. LOL, loser.

Give the guy a break guys. If at one point Dana indicated, that there would be some revenue involved, then its only fair that Tito considers this fight as part of his financial planning.
Tito left the #1 contender spot a long time ago, so its not like he is the #1 choice for marketing anyway and his sallaries are also not what they used to be. Considering that he only cashes in every 3 months at best and his current lifestyle (with the porn vamp around him), I can imagine that money is still a matter in his decisions. Hell – you show me one fighter who can afford to fight for free with all the consequences involved.
I am not a big tito fan, because I think he mostly fought nobodies and the few respectable fights have been rare occasions or a long time ago. Yet I believe that al the fuzz around this is worth it.

Jenna Jameson is probably ten times richer than Tito, the porn biz is bigger than the UFC. I don’t totally hate Tito or anything but the guy is basically an egomaniac (like all fighters). I don’t think he’s as good as he thinks he is (beating Ken Shamrock 3 times don’t mean shit in today’s UFC)I think Rashad Evans is gonna steamroll him, and so would Keith Jardine. He better hang on to Jenna’s nuts real tight, cause his career is fading, soon he WILL be doin’ porn.

Money isn’t the issue, just more classic Tito making excuses. Weather the fight was free, or for Chairity ,or ppv, you need to stick by your word.
I never like Tito but gained a little respect for him after Tuf. Lost a little with the back to back Shamrok fights, a little more when he ran his mouth about Babalu, Tad bit more when he bitched up at the Liddell fight, and know I hope Rashed knocks this Motherfucker out and sends his ass packing. People get tired of excuses and Tito full of them.

I spar with my buddies all the time, for free. If I was going to benifit charity by fighting someone I CALLED OUT, no way I would back down. Titos a “business man” now, Im so impressed he only cares about number 1. Guess who else is a business man—-thats right, Dana White. He agreed to Tito’s stupid clause and now he gets to sit back and laugh as everyone teases Tito for being…well, for being Tito. Tito, learn a little business sence, philanthropy is good business. You make way too much money for people to have sympathy for you unless you give back in some way. All you had to do was a little sparing, and you cared too much about your self for that. Fuck you, I hope you go down! I used to be a fan dude, what’s up? The fans are catching on, the tides are turning, next time your contract runs out Dana isnt going to have to agree to stupid shit to keep you, in fact I would give you a major pay decrease, where else are you gonna go you fuckin mental midget?

Tito isnt scrounging for pennies, really the two (Jenna & Him) must be worth a bundle of cash. So we know its not about money.
Tito is however worried that Dana might actually win or at the least put up a good fight and diminish him. Sorry but you asked for the fight.
Dana should fire him now that pride is with ufc and kick him to the curb. Where are you (Tito) gonna go if you cant fight in the top 2 mma shows???
Tito should have just done it and donated the money to the RED CROSS or something.
For a guy who thinks he is a business man (Hes a failure)
For a guy who thinks he is a fighter (He is a sad excuse for one)
I can just see his stock falling now. Team Punishment is getting punished.
I say Dana should give him crap fights and not show em on TV as a reward for wussing out, unless the other guy pounds him then include it in the opening intro clips.

Guys with professional boxing careers havn’t done real well in MMA, even when their oppenent stands with them. HOw in the hell is Tito going to use the excuse he might get hurt. Does he not spar because he might get hurt. Come on! He has no pride, if he did he wouldnt be with a porn star and he wouldnt have dodged this fight. And by the way he deserves to be slammed. Tito is a good fighter. He beat Guy Metzger and Vitor. Vitor hasn’t been the same as of late but when Tito beat him he was awesome. Hell Vitor beat Randy! You’re paying too much attention to the Forrest & Ken Shamrock fights of late.
To everyone else:
Who the guy dates is his own business. I agree that he seems to have an expensive lifestyle and he also runs team punishment. Ofcourse he needs money & has to take all business seriously until he starts winning alot again. It’s an unfortunate situation. It certain that this isn’t helping his image at all & that should regretably poor affect his sponsorship money. The guy is a fighter & entertains us. Perhaps even more so because of all the extra bullshit.
I think Tito will be at the top of the Light Heavyweight division for a while yet. I wish him well.
As for Rashad, I think he’ll be the one to knock off Chuck. His skill set is the correct recipe. If he gets past Tito he’ll get his chance soon if not it’ll come in another year & a half.

To all the people saying that “It was lose lose he had to back out” think about one simple thing TITO ASKED FOR THE FIGHT. For Christs sake it was a stipulation in his contract. The Contract didn’t say that “I want to fight you…. Unless I can’t make a shit load of money” It said he wanted the fight so they could settle their bad blood.
He realized he couldn’t make money (that’s not what it was about when he REQUIRED the match) his girl friend grabbed him by the nuts, and said don’t do it.
Do I think Tito was afraid of Dana ? No. Dana is a good boxer, and ended up getting in to decent shape for the fight, but lets be fair Tito would of beat his ass. He is simply an money hungry whore well that and an asshole.
Any one who is a fan of Tito Ortiz should really think long and hard about why they like him. He isn’t the best not even in the top 10, money whore, and Asshole. What in that list is it that makes you a fan ?

Why has no one pointed a finger at ZUFFA / UFC Management? This event was taped, not live. They new before Thursday April 12th, 11:30 pm EST that there was not a fight in the show. Yet the advertisements surrounding the event painted the picture of Dana White vs Tito Ortiz in a sparring match…not a pissing contest.
I am by no means defending Tito. I agree, he added this stipulation to his contract; Dana White agreed and apparently made all of the proper arrangemeents; Tito backed out.
However, the reason why the fight didn’t happen is unimportant. The bottom line is this. The fans are responsible for the success of the UFC and MMA as a whole. And this is how the organization treats the fans??? The fans were deceived, robbed of their time, and left with a hour and half of Dana White working out.
The UFC, ZUFFA, Dana White, and Tito Ortiz should all be ashamed of themselves.
by BPeek on Apr 13, 2007 9:14 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I honestly don’t think Dana has one think to be ashamed about.
I personally think that BPeek has some intense hatred for Zuffa, and would piss on them no matter what. I mean to go as far as saying “the reason why the fight didn’t happen is unimportant.” I think is just insane. Thats the most important thing. I personally would like to know why I didn’t get to see Dana vs Tito I already know it didn’t happen, and im not going to blame the UFC they weren’t the ass holes that backed out.
Personally I thought I was going to see Tito vs Dana I was upset that I didn’t but I enjoyed the show anyway. It doesn’t bother me one bit that it was advertised after Tito had backed out. It had to air due to contracts with Spike they didn’t have to advertise it the way they did, but really it wasn’t that important that they did.

Yes I was annoyed with the fact that nothing happened for the 1 1/2 hours we booked out of our day to watch the fight.BUT everyone knew it could potentially be a very big lose lose deal.Tito beats Dana someone who hasn’t fought in 10 years , " What a jerk ! " , or " Dana beats (or even knocks down ) Tito one of the greatest fighters in sports entertainment" what a loser ! Let’s remember that both Tito AND Dana have done a lot for this sport and for promoting young kids and fighters. The time was already invested into the project and to be honest I personally learned a lot about Dana Whites history that has earned him more respect as being the Pres.He isn’t just some business guy that came in and took over.I would have watched the show even if it was promoted as a history on Dana and Tito.I work with troubled kids for a living and they all enjoyed the show.

[quote comment=“33034”]I honestly don’t think Dana has one think to be ashamed about.
“I personally think that BPeek has some intense hatred for Zuffa, and would piss on them no matter what.”
Obviously…because if I really hated Zuffa, I would know about the current events surrounding them and I would waste my time writing blogs.
I am a big fan of MMA and the UFC especially. I think Zuffa has done a great thing with the UFC. If I can help it, I don’t miss a single event.
Which is why this made me upset. This was very irresponsible on the company’s part. Tito shouldn’t have backed out and Dana/Zuffu shouldn’t have continued to advertise a fight between Dana and Tito when they knew very well that there wasn’t one.
And the program was enjoyable. However, I would have much rather been told that I would be watching a biography of Dana White with a focus on his past with Tito Ortiz. And yes, I would have watched it anyway.
As far as placing the blame on someone, you have to ALWAYS consider the source of the info you are using to make that decision. Was that special brought to you by Team Punishment? Did Tito Ortiz produce the special? NO. Zuffa did, so you got the Zuffa perspective and intentions on the issue.
Again, not defending Tito, just stating that you don’t know everything b/c you were not there for the entire experience so it is impossible for you to make a valid and accurate observation. NO ONE on this page knows EXACTLY what has happened so we have no right to place blame as if we know we are right for sure…myself included. (Hence the “reason being unimportant” part.) The fact is, the fight didn’t happen when both parties involved said that it was happening. Therefore, it was irresponsible on both parties parts.
Give me a “Here-here” if you agree!!

So many people seem to miss the point. He says he wont fight for free. HE ISNT. It was part of his contract with UFC. It was a condition that he put in, and it was part of the “payment” that he wanted when he renewed his contract. He got paid and then when push came to shove he bailed, like a shiphand on the Titanic. SpikeTV aired it as a doco, not a fight. I was more impressed with Dana’s level of commitment given his work load. And for those who bitch about the car he drives and the jet, the owners of the UFC are Casino owners who actually pay the fighters very well, and now own Pride. They must be doing somethig right.
I was a little disappointed that there was no fight, but I wasnt under the illusion that there was a fight at the end. The promos for the show said all about the bad blood between them. Tito was bragging about the fight, Dana wanted to keep it quiet.
Always saw Tito as a cocky arrogant little shit, now he is also afraid, in need of a good Penicilin shot and in need of legal advice. Now I change the tone of the message.
The smartest thing out of Jenna’s mouth has been a mans cock!!!! Do not take business advice from that. :)
For me the show wasnt a waste of 90 minutes, and it gave me some insight into how much goes into preparing a normal fighter, not to mention an executive who has been out of the game for over 10 years. I remember training, but it never seemed that hard. QED.

If thats true what he is saying then he is absolutly right not to do the fight,if there is a money making oppurtunity then you dont do it for free.He has to think like that because that is his livleyhood, fighting, and he has to take every money making oppurtunity very seriously or else he will starve and DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
