Good article. I like Lauzon. Hopefully he does some damage this season. ONLY TWO WEEKS AWAY! Interesting decision he made to appear on the show. He wouldve been fine without it after knocking out Pulver.

The funny part was that 2 minutes after UFCmania posted it you already replied with a generic response like “Good article”, even thou I doubt anyone would have read the 3 pages in that time and had time to post back immediately after that.

huge ears on this guy, I wonder if he’s worried about caulifower ear?

easy you tapped, this article was on the ufc website all morning, i read it earlier sirmix could have doen the same…anyway, its seems to me like he is gonna be in the finals match, which is my prediction, but is not gonna come across as “the cool one” or “the funny one” just a good fighter. It would have been cool to see his brother on the show too, he was undefeated before Spencer Koed him, shows like The Real World show underaged drinking all the time..but i guess these ARE professional athletes

I read it on UFC.com!

Ok, you are right about the article. As for TUF5: except for the coaches its totally unexciting for me. There is something about Lightweights that annoys me, especially lightweight strikers. They remind me of the kids around the block when they start fights with each other. Maybe its because I am a 205er myself, but I will watch TUF5 only to see some BJJ and BJ.

Yea, sorry about that. I was under the (apparently wrong) impression, that UFCmania wouldn’t post UFC.com stuff here.

Huh? It was from the Boston Herald not from UFC.com. UFC.com just placed the article on the homepage. I’m not going to not pass along news just because the UFC puts it on his Web site. We rarely post original content from UFC.com because you can get the feed right in the sidebar. I’m not sure what impression you are referring to.

BALBOA BITCH!!! anyway i say 155ers have a tournament 2 c who would fight the winner of pulver vs penn, which BJ would win anyway so i don’t know y we r even having this discussion!

by ibread on Mar 26, 2007 2:43 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Well, thats what I meant. I saw “Boston Herald UFC Coverage” in the UFC News Beat box and was confused why you posted it anyway.

How can you not like to watch Guillard, Edwards, or Fisher. Those dudes have some serious strikes. They arent that small either. Fight @ 155 but some of those guys probably walk around 180 and still look pretty cut. Spence is a mad man. He may have short arms but I bet he hits harder than a lot of 205lbs strikers.

Good names Bawana, indeed. But as for TUF5: no really exciting fighter. Lauzon has potential, we all saw what he can do. I am also curious about lil’ Diaz I will admit, but then again: I’d switch channels for any middle- or heavyweight fight, regardless how bad the fighters are. None of the participants has the quality of a Guillard.

I think its getting kinda stupid when a guy is cut at say 175-180 and fights at 155, one day someone is doing to die because of dehydration. I was wondering, does anyone know for sure how much body weight fighters typically put back on between the weigh ins and when they fight? I’ve here plenty of speculation on the matter, but am only interested in facts. Anyone at all, I really would like to know.

by nathan on Mar 26, 2007 3:20 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Nathan, i dont think there is a for sure, every fighter is different obviously..id say 10-15 pounds is normal…just waterwieght getting rehydrated and getting good food in you…wrestlers have been drastically cutting weight forever, the people who know how to cut as a science and know their body will never have problems…

looks like all the hype about tuf 5 is gonna be true, all these guys can scrap and they all got that ego thing thats good for tv, i can’t wait for this shit

by tha spida on Mar 26, 2007 3:28 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

On the issue of cutting weight, it can be more dangerous and harmfull in the long run that MMA itself is. Fighters overseas rarely ever cut weight. I am somewhat new to the UFC but have watched Pride since it starting coming on PPV a couple years ago. The issue of cutting weight seems dubm to me.

by UrTastingToeCheese on Mar 26, 2007 3:55 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Agreed. Look at Cro Cop – he fights with his real weight. Compare Chuck Liddell who’s walking around with 220 and cuts to 205lb everytime.

How funny it was when people said that Cro Cop was supposed to cut weight if he wants to fight Chuck instead of Chuck simply fight at his natural weight.

by YouTapped on Mar 26, 2007 4:00 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

You can cut about 10% of your bodyweight with a descent effort. Its almost entirely water weight and you can replenish it overnight with no ill effects. It’s pretty well known a professional football player, especially 300 pounders will loose 10% of their body weight a lot of times during a game. Powerlifters can drop about 4% in around a hour and still be 100% while lifting almost immediately after. Fluctuating drastically in bodyweight is dangerous but I think most fighters are only sweeting out a few lbs before weigh-in and by fight time they are back to normal.

By the way, I see your point YouTapped.

hes not that bad, it was funny when he ko Jens i hate the Milatich camp, Fishers alright but everyone else is a bunch of assholes

by joe on Mar 26, 2007 4:21 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Yea, the Miletich Camp is not very popular. I really wish Pat Miletich would dare to fight Cro Cop, since he claims the nickname “The Croatian Sensation” and absolutely nothing is sensational about Pat Miletich. Loved it when Renzo made him tap.

At least they have no more “champs”.

by YouTapped on Mar 26, 2007 4:27 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

should be a pretty good season, I like the one weigh class deal this year…..and LW’s are very exciting to watch.

I agree that “ears” didnt even need the show and he should end up in the finals.

Pretty psyched for Penn/Pulver 2 – Penn all the way

so glad MFS has no more champs

Well I was gonna say something smart ass here…but you can understand Joe’s big head here. I mean he did knock out his teacher in the show…fast.

I dont get how any of you can say that the 155 lb division is boring. Those guys are without question faster than every other division.

Kid’s got heart. I’m pulling for him. More heart than Tito will ever have. That’s right… I took a cheap shot at The Excellence of Excuses. I’m sorry, I’m still worked up from his article.
