Dana White and Tito Ortiz box today

NSAC approves White-Ortiz boxing match
UFC President Dana White and UFC light heavyweight fighter Tito Ortiz are scheduled to lace up the boxing gloves and go toe-to-toe for three rounds today during an exhibition at UFC training headquarters in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Finally.

It's been a long and drawn out process, but it seems as though Ortiz will get his wish to pound his current boss, former manager and one-time pal.

Footage of the match is supposed to air on UFC.com on or around April 14. Between now and then, I'm not sure if the result will be revealed.

Rest assured, however, we'll keep you posted is any news leaks out.

For more details on what this is all about, just check out the post -- it should be more than enough background information.

this is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard of…but I sure want to see it.

Its for a charity and I am sure Dana will wear a head-protection and it will be very unexciting altogether. I assume it will either be available on the internet or aired for free on SpikeTV. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to pay for this.

I dont have Spike TV…i live in England :(

by Dean on Mar 24, 2007 3:26 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

It will pop-up at YouTube, DailyMotion or as a torrent somewhere after it has been aired, I am sure.

I dont like either of these guys, ortiz is way over rated and dana protects his fighters too much and doesnt make the fights the fans want to see. I hope they knock each other out at the same time

ILYA needs to grow up and stop acting like a kid..

i hope dana gets to wear some headgear, wouldn’t want any damage done to that brain…

Ilya, Dana isn’t the match maker of the UFC. Mr. Joe Silva has that job. Perhaps your hate for Dana is unfounded.

i think it would be great to see…

Yea, don’t get me wrong – I’d wanna see it too, regardless who gets the beating. But I’d never pay for something like this, like some suggested.

i think tito planned on this being a little bit more of a joke than it turned out to be, i don’t think he ever really wanted to do this, he’s too busy worrying about putting the punishment on rah evans

Sean, you think Dana has no say in the fights? he’s Joe Silva’s boss. Silva is the matchmaker but im pretty sure that all of the big fights have Dana behind them one way or another.

PA99, why do you think im acting like a kid, because I dont like either of those guys? yea i guess having an opinion makes me a kid…

by Ilya on Mar 24, 2007 9:26 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

My thoughts of IFL is its fighting so its good. Of course their promotion people should all be fired. Silver monkeys vs roger rabbits? They should call the team based on its captain…Militech vs Rutten ect. This way a newbie can still have some name regonition and want to tune in. Also they should figure out a way to have a captains showdown.

The match has been canceled according to Ufcjunkie.com

by Steven on Mar 24, 2007 11:50 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Tito called Dana before the weight-in and said he’d let him “off the hook”, but Dana didn’t thought he meant to cancel the fight. I doubt Tito has any good excuse for this, except maybe a Date with Jenna and 2-3 of her pornstar friends in a hotel suite. :P

ON A FAR MORE IMPORTANT ISSUE (yes, this deserved uppercase letters):

FEDOR SIGNED A LONG-TERM FIHGTING DEAL WITH BODOG! This means we most likely won’t ever see Fedor-CroCop II and Fedor killing Chuck. Dana, if you can’t sign a fighter from a sinking ship like Pride you truly suck ass! I call bullshit on your “we’ll sign the best fighters in the world” slogan.

At this moment its unclear if Fedor has extended his expiring Pride contract beforehand and if so, if it would be transferable to the UFC in case of a merger, but its unlikely at this point.

ON A FAR MORE IMPORTANT ISSUE (yes, this deserved uppercase letters):

FEDOR SIGNED A LONG-TERM FIHGTING DEAL WITH BODOG!

Here is Google’s translation of YouTapped’s Fedor news/post:
