Quick hits: UFC news and notes
There are a few stories floating around that don't really require dedicated posts. Therefore, we'll just touch on them quickly and let you link off into cyberspace.
Here we go:
--Tatame.com is reporting that a handler for UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva has confirmed the bout with Nathan Marquardt at UFC 72 (now UFC 73) on July 7. According to the brief, "The Spider" is recovering from a knee injury and will train his ground game for the showdown as soon as he recovers. Our sources tell us that while nothing is signed yet, it's pretty much a done deal.
--Undefeated lightweight Terry Etim (7-0) has been added to the UFC 70 card in Manchester, England, on April 21, according to FightNetwork.com. The native of Liverpool, England, will make his UFC debut. An opponent for Etim has not been named.
--UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell is featured on this month's edition of Men's Fitness magazine, according to NBCSports.com. In the six-page spread, Liddell discusses his win over Tito Ortiz at UFC 66, what makes fighters tick and other topics. It is already on newsstands — go snag a copy.
--UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture will appear on the FOX News program "Your World with Neil Cavuto" this Thursday at 4:00 p.m. According to UFC.com, Cavuto will speak with Couture about the UFC's emergence and the rise of mixed martial arts, as well as the win over Tim Sylvia. In addition, Couture will chat with fans online at 1:30 p.m. this Thursday on ESPN SportsNation. Check out the site and send in some questions prior to the discussion.
--On March 13, SpikeTV will air a two-hour "UFC Unleashed" special presentation. There are some really, really good can't-miss fights lined up, including:
- Matt Hughes vs. Georges St. Pierre II (UFC 65)
- Chuck Liddell vs. Renato "Babalu" Sobral II (UFC 62)
- BJ Penn vs. Din Thomas (UFC 32)
- BJ Penn vs. Caol Uno (UFC 34)
- Matt Hughes vs. Royce Gracie (UFC 60)
- Jens Pulver vs. John Lewis (UFC 28)
- Andrei Arlovski vs. Tim Sylvia (UFC 51)
- Melvin Guillard vs. Gabe Ruediger (UFC 63)
- Luigi Fioravanti vs. Dave Menne (UFN 7)

hell yeah, unleashed finally dishing out some superfabulousfantasticoexciting god damn fights.
but damn i know marquardt is doing pretty well in the UFC.. but thats not a fight thats got my blood pumping. I think silva-swick would be pretty damn exciting.
