Has anyone else been reading that the UFC just bought Pride?
by MoreThanUFC on Mar 3, 2007 6:44 PM EST reply actions
No they haven’t, but Ed Fishman (Pres. Pride USA) is going to take them to court for contract breach and try to get all of their assets. He is mad because Sakikibara isn’t interested in selling. If the UFC ever buys pride it will be frontpage news everywhere. That’s not something you can hide.

i’ll never say another good thing about tim pussy ass sylvia again, and i’ll also never doubt randy again ever even if he fought chuck again, i’m shocked and disappointed in tim, he let me down after i stuck up for him, damn good pay per view though…i guess now we all know why the kampman fight was on, that was a badass fight, and kampman has a granite chin…as far as babalu goes, i am speechless as well, and disappointed just the same…randy vs. cro cop, hope randy eats whatever he ate for breakfast this morning for that one
by tha spida on Mar 4, 2007 12:52 AM EST reply actions
At last…someone got in there to show how sloppy and overrated fighter Tim Sylvia is. If not Couture then another heavyweight would’ve taken him out within the next 6 months – Sylvia is now a has-been.

Rollo, it was worth the $40, but not by much. It wasnt Pride 33 if thats what you wanna know. I wont be buying GSP vs Serra, or the Manchester one since the fights we expected are dropping like flies. But will I be buying the next 3 Prides as they stand now? You bet.

ufc 68 was great! they wasted no time getting to the good fights as they started with the babalu fight( cant believe he got ko’ed by saggy tits) and Randy is the man for sure, i was nervous for him but once i saw that big right i felt better about the whole match

man i mean couture doesn’t knock people out but he damn near did with that first punch, plus his boxing was outstanding throughout the whole 5

matt hughes fought a shitty fighter and damn near got chocked out in the 1st, he couldn’t even finish him off, weak performance.
Rich atleast fought someone good and won, so kudos to him. but there was only 5 fights shown, thats strange

Randy is my hero. The ref for Lytle vs Hughes is horrible. So much preference towards Hughes in not standing them up. Kampmann vs McFerdies was awesome, but the best fight of the night goes to RANDY PWNZ TIMAY!

“i had an injury”
excuse my language but what a C-NT!!! I hate sylvia. Randy beat his ass. Sylvia landed like 6 jabs, two uppercuts and two knees in 25 minutes. if it was anyone other than Randy i would have called it a bit boring but… WOW… Randy is my hero
Tim is the biggest zero ever for teying to say he fought with an injury. I cant even think of anything else to say

Randy fullfilled every aspect of what an mma fighter should be. It wasn’t no Pride 33 but Randy made the night worth watching. Randy Couture for president.
by grey on Mar 4, 2007 1:48 AM EST reply actions
Tim Sylvia is the biggest bitch i have ever seen. that guy talked so much trash and backed up nothing. its about time that dana white put a great fighter in against the “lame-aic” because that guy has never ever brought excitement into the octagon. thank god that that piece of trash will never get a title fight again. slow, weak, and absolutely pathetic, tim sylvia proved that he should have never had possession of the ufc title. thank the lord for randy couture. my hero.
by Gus on Mar 4, 2007 2:00 AM EST reply actions
Overall a good night of fights; in general, a litle too much time ticked by with fighters on the mat doing nothing—refs should be standing these guys up sooner.
Crowd was o.k. with a few spastic, know-it-all, phone clipped to the belt types ruining the vibe for us normal people.
by Amanda on Mar 4, 2007 2:02 AM EST reply actions
I have never been more happy to be completely wrong about a fight. Way to go Couture. As for Hughes and Franklin, I was dissapointed. Franklin had a chance to end it early but he backed off and let MacDonald recover and Huges is just straight up boring.
The Kampmann fight was pretty good. I was impressed with his chin and sub. No fight is worth $40 unless your splitting it with friends.

I like randy but i didnt want him to win considering the winner of this fight gets the winner of crop cop vs gonzaga. I am scared to see the day a nice guy like randy has to face cro cop. I really wanted to see Cro Cop give Sylvia the ass beating, but Randy knocked him around pretty good. He knokced him out in the first round gave him some sweet elbows in the second, beat him in a stand up boxing match in thrid, and Took his ass down over and over again in the tird and fourth.
by HOLY SHIT on Mar 4, 2007 2:30 AM EST reply actions
Randy had guarenteed money on his contract, so any purse he gets is just a bonus.
And I TOTALLY agree with Mahde, never happier to be wrong about a fight.

Great night for Randy, but I kind of feel bad for Brandon Vera. He does what he needs to do to earn a title shot and then Randy comes back and takes it. Now with Cro Cop in the mix its gonna be really hard for Brandon to get back in there. I really hope the UFC gives him a shot at Randy. I think that would be a deacent fight.

I heard Vera was signed by that Showtime fight league. They gave him a 1.5 mill$$$$$ contract to own their heavyweight division. He does have 1 fight left w/ufc, I think it’s against that wrastler that laid all over and whooped up on the Texas Crazy Horse – Heath Herring. I could be wrong though. Also, I’m definately a little freaked out to see Couture/Kro-Kop. That straight left is a nightmare. One more thing, I thought if Sylvia would of brought the right-leg head kick, he could of dropped Couture while he was bobbing & weaving. Too bad he was way too scared to even think about his high kicks. His performance was way beyond a disappointment. A major disgrace to lose the belt on a no-brain decision like that.
by cswides on Mar 4, 2007 3:31 AM EST reply actions
What the fuck goes on inside Tim’s head?
I mean Gomi loses to Diaz in a huge upset, was really injured but never admitted it, and all he says is “I loved the fight. I loved Vegas. Thank you for a great time.”
Wandy loses to Hendo, was really sick, was in the hospital, never told anyone, and all he says is he’s happy for Hendo and that he’ll be back.
No Pride vs UFC shit here, just the last two champs to lose that I can remember what they said.
by MoreThanUFC on Mar 4, 2007 3:34 AM EST reply actions
You are absolutely right thou MoreThanUFC! The two former champs at least respect the fans enough to not bring up injuries after a loss. Tim Sylvia is the most horrible champ there ever was and never will be again.
Somehow I had hoped, that either Sylvia wins or Couture retires after this one, because I’d hate to see Cro Cop kick Randys head off, because he is such a nice guy and a real champion.
The other fights kinda sucked, but the main event made up for it. Seeing Sylvia being man-handled like that was priceless!
by YouTapped on Mar 4, 2007 9:10 AM EST reply actions
Being one of the few standing up for Tim, I’m not worthy to post to this board any more. Randy’s always been the man, but Syvia proves to every babbling Pride joker out there that the top UFC division was weak. I’ll STFU now.
by pacalis on Mar 4, 2007 9:28 AM EST reply actions
pacalis, it isnt weak anymore. This was gonna happen sooner or later, and I’m glad it was Randy. Now please Randy, retire.

I was feeling sorry for Timmmaay after the loss, right up to the point in the post-fight interview where he said he came in injured. Then I thought, “You sad-sack, scooter-ridin, belt-wearing-everywhere, e-baying, lurch-lookin loser, show some effing class for once.”

Great interview on Sherdog with Dana White. As classy as always, but still a great interview. Glad he listens and reads the blogs and forums. What he says about Sakaraba, hardcore fans like me have been saying for two years. If the word fuck bothers you, dont download it. Really.
At Sherdog its gonna take like 15 mins to DL,so just click the download to your computer so you can keep surfing. Dont wait for it or you’ll grow old.
Also, if interested, dl the Nick Diaz one as well. Typically great Diaz interview. The punch stat for Gomi was 13, yes 13, but you’d never know it looking Nicks face. He says 5 or 6 but he’s still kinda out of it.

What else does Couture have to do to prove that he is still capable of competing at the highest level. He absolutely dominated Sylvia, which Arlovski could not do. Yet, even after this unbelievable showing, I hear people calling for his immediate retirement. I think Couture, mentally and physically healthy, on a mission, can give CroCop a run for his money.

every body who doubts couture can beat cro-cop is an idiot, the only thing that cro-copcando is high kicks, so randy will dominate. dont be foolish pride fans. pride is for second place fighters, and every body knows that!!!!!!!!!

I think Cro-Cop vs The natural might just be one of the best fights in a long time! I’d have to say I favour Mirko to win but Rndy’s showed again that he can beat anyone, son’t write him off!

Couture is an golden god! UFC heavyweight div. has always been weak (no secret) this fight will effectively change that, with the influx of heavyweight fighters defecting from Pride, Fedor, Hunt,Aleksander etc. soon to come!
Nobody commentimg on Mark Hamil (the deaf fighter that the English guy cheapshoted in practice on the ultimate fighter series) Got his second PPV win and is improving!

I will try to not comment on threads where ppl say Couture will beat Crocop, or all Crocop can do it high kick, or Randy belongs in the ring with Crocop, Werdum, Fedor, Nog, Barnett, etc, etc. Now, how bout a Geezer Grand Prix for Randy. Bring back Marc Coleman, Don Frye, Dan Severn, Pedro Rizzo…..
Look, I love Couture, always have, but this was Tim Sylvia, not Fedor. And a little objective analysis would tell you, Tim was still standing at the end. Randy kinda layed and prayed quite a bit himself. Great game plan, won the belt, but he aint gonna run, oh, bout 12 mins off the clock of a 25 min match against Mr. Domesplitter. Retire, Randy, for the love of God. Or go fight Coleman.
by MoreThanUFC on Mar 5, 2007 11:35 AM EST reply actions
I like Randy and it’s great that he won, but I’m going to have to agree.I have seen a lot more UFC than Pride, but I do not favour one over the other.I enjoy MMA period. From what I have seen, Tim Sylvia wouldn’t have lasted to the end of the second round with any of the top 5 guys in Pride. As much skill and experience Randy has, if he didn’t knock Cro Cop out by the end of the 1st round (RANDLEMAN),then I couldn’t see the fight going his way. And against Fedor, Barnett or Mark (Stone Head) Hunt. No chance. If he can get past Cro Cop though, I can’t see too many heavyweights in the UFC giving him a problem apart, from Jeff Monson.
