UFC 70 in England confirmed, tickets on sale Monday

The UFC finally made its plans to return to England on April 21 for UFC 70 official, according to UFC.com.

It will be the first show in Great Britain since UFC 38: "Brawl at the Hall" in 2002.

Here's a snip from UFC Pres Dana White:

"We are very excited to be back in the UK," said UFC President Dana White. We had a lot of obstacles over the last six years, but I never gave up on bringing the UFC back to the UK. Now we have our UK office up and running, we're going to have fights in the UK and throughout Europe, so the UFC is here to stay."

The event, which will held at the Manchester Evening News (M.E.N.) arena, features a bevvy of international mixed martial artists.

With the help of MMAWeekly.com, we have a good idea of who to expect:

Hvywt. : Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic (22-4-2) vs. TBA
205 lb.: Michael Bisping (12-0) vs. Elvis Sinosic (8-9-2)
205 lb.: Tito Ortiz (15-5) vs. Forrest Griffin (13-4)
205 lb.: Alessio Sakara (10-5) vs. Victor Valimaki (9-3)
185 lb.: Dennis Siver (10-3) vs. TBA
155 lb.: David Lee (5-2) vs. TBA
Hvywt.: Cheick Kongo (9-3-1) vs. TBA
170 lb.: Abdul Mohamed (12-4-2) vs. TBA
170 lb.: Jess Liaudin (10-8) vs. TBA

Note: None of these bouts are confirmed by UFC.com

As usual, UFC Fight Club members will have the first crack at purchasing tickets on Monday, February 19 at 10:00 a.m. via the new UFC UK Web site.

For more info on this event -- such as its potential broadcast on HBO and wild rumors that new additions to the production team include names such as Lennox Lewis -- check out our UFC 70 archives.

Michael Bisping (12-0) vs. Elvis Sinosic (8-9-2). Come on, what kind of shit is this?.

agreed thats as smart as rashad evans vs sean salmon. also, i dont want to see tito fight forrest again. for 1. because forrest fucking won the first fight, i watched it 10 times and the judges ruling was fucking ridiculous. and 2. tito doesnt deserve a rematch, hes just looking to make himself look better after getting beat by chuck again. now that he doesnt have shamrock to make himself look good i guess he thinks griffin will fill the slot

Its nonsense. Some people still think Elvis has game, but are clearly drinking the Zuffa Kool-Aid. The match up is a crime. Anyone who thinks this is a decent match up is not credible. I don’t care about his last two wins. I care about the nine losses and eight defeats. And I don’t buy the good competition bit. If anything, he’s demonstrated clearly over his career that he is a hack. Bisping will win and Joe Silva can then match him up with Ross Pointon again in the next English show.

What a stupid card. Tito vs Forrest? Bisping vs Sinosic? I’ll just read the results online and watch the Crocop beating at youtube.

Say it aint sooo, Im going to have to sit through a Forrest vs Tito rematch fight that will produce the same result as the first one. Cro Cop better be fighting a contender.

This is shaping up to be one of the worst UFC cards in recent history. I haven’t missed a pay per view in a long time, but I might sit this one out. They don’t want to officially annouce that Cro Cop will be fighting Cheick Kongo ‘cause it doesn’t add any pop too the weak card. Kickboxer or not, does anyone who knows MMA think Kongo has a chance?

The UFC has no marketable depth. Thats there own fault. They dark match so many fights even ones we pay for on pay per view so alot of good fighters in their ranks are unknown to the average fan. Nathan Marquardt, and Jon Fitch are perfect examples. The UFC hasn’t showcased them and now Dana is talking title shot for Marquardt. Does he deserve it? Definately! but how do you market it? So instead of letting better less known fighters fight, they get the same ole bums we know and love.

Forget Tito vs. Forrest. Put this on the card, Tito vs. Babalu, Forrest vs. Rashad, Bisping vs Jardine, and for Cro Cop, Arlovski. Cro Cop just one the 2006 pride open weight championship. He’s a champion, why are they matching him with chumps? He has nothing to prove!!!

by Getrawbc on Feb 14, 2007 8:27 PM EST reply actions

And another thing, What’s the deal with two pay per views in two weeks time? twice in April with the latter card being so weak? They should have one in April and mix the 69 card with the 70 card.

bad card
im not watching

Careful UFC/Dana….. Feelin’ a bit taken for granted by this card. I’m willing to go with homeboy and miss my first PPV in years and catch what I can on YouTube. Would rather see no card than this P.O.S. Tito vs. Forrest, gimme a break. Either of these guys against Bisping would be an effort on UFC’s part. And just cuz it’s in the UK doesn’t mean you have to put the Count in with someone you know he’s gonna beat. If Nightmare/Evans/Bisping are FIGHTERS, then give these fuckers someone to fight…..please.

Ortiz vs. Griffin sucks!

Who wants to see that retread, it sucked the first time. Both these fighters need to be sent to Pride for a few years.

So Tito can wipe the mat with Silva again, great idea. LOL

by Underwear Model on Feb 15, 2007 1:34 AM EST reply actions

Whoever though Forrest won the tito fight needs to watch it without the sound of Rogan blatant bias toward Forrest.
I think Ortiz even landed the better shots between the two.

by Gus on Feb 15, 2007 2:19 AM EST reply actions

I believe Gus is correct, anyone who thinks griffin won that fight should stop by my house…i got it on my DVR. Tito beat the living snot out of Griffin the 1st round…granted Tito didnt get any take downs the second round but every single punch Forrest threw was blocked. I personly want to see that rematch…so Tito can beat the shot out of Opy taylor…er i mean Forrest again.

Also
Its been comfirmed that Mirko is Fighting Gonzaga in the Main event
Hopefully Arlovski gets matched up with Kongo.

by Gus on Feb 15, 2007 4:20 AM EST reply actions

Does anyone know how much the tickets are costing as the website(ufc.com) have not yet got a link on the prices. Forrest got his ass kicked by Tito so it will be nice seeeing Tito get another win on his record.

by jason bang on Feb 15, 2007 8:39 AM EST reply actions

I like the fact that theres big names on the card…but i wish big names would fight big names…look at the dissapointment The last UFC brought…all one sided and very predictable…same goes with this card as of right now.. I like both Forrest and Tito, i want to see them both fight, but not eachother..And Gonzaga sucks butt

by MMA Dude on Feb 15, 2007 9:32 AM EST reply actions

Unfortunetly Gonzaga is one of the UFC’s better up and comming fighters. He doesnt have big name status like a Couture or Arlovski, but he is a definate upgrade over that other guy from Brazil. I also stand by my previous bet that Ortiz beats Griffin again. All I know is Tito better not drag this fight on I hope he smashes Griffin faster that Jardine, whom I think really deserves to fight Tito.

by Underwear Model on Feb 15, 2007 4:57 PM EST reply actions

why is arlovski not on that line up thats posted there? is he fighting kongo?

by jesse on Feb 22, 2007 10:57 PM EST reply actions

well i hope that dana white or someone over there at ufc reads this and knows how disappointed the loyal fans are. I’m almost ready to say i’m with those other guys about missing this ppv. and like them i havn’t missed one in the last couple years. forrest vs tito ? no way dana. bisbing needs to fight either tito, rashaad, forrest, or jardine.
