Sanchez to Koscheck: ‘Pack some balls'

In an interview with Mike DiSanto on UFC.com in November 2006, welterweight contender Josh Koscheck offered to pay matchmaker Joe Silva to fight archrival Diego Sanchez in his next bout.
Here's a snip from "Kos:"
"I don't like his attitude. He is too cocky. Plus, I think would be a big fight."
He later added:
"He [Diego] should be embarrassed that he barely beat me when I didn't know a damn thing [about fighting]. I lost to him by split decision on the show in a fight that could have gone either way. Everyday, I live with the fact that he is one up on me. He beat me fairly. But it won't happen again."
At UFC 69 on April 7 in Houston, Texas, Koscheck will finally have the opportunity to settle the score. However, according to a comment left by Sanchez on Koscheck's MySpace profile, it was Sanchez who requested the fight.
Here's a snip:
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY HUMAN BLANKET, I HOPE YOU PACK SOME BALLS IN YOUR SUIT CASE WHEN YOU COME TO H TOWN, PLEASE DONT TRY TO DRY HUMP ME LIKE ALL YOUR OTHER BORING ASS FIGHTS. IM READY RIGHT NOW!!!! I ASKED DANA FOR YOU!!
P.S. YOU AINT GOT HANDS
Man ... does it get any better than that?
I cannot confirm with 100 percent confidence that Diego himself is indeed the author -- maybe his MySpace account was hacked.
But, it's out there, funny as hell and worth passing along.
Without a doubt, these comments will add fuel to an already blazing fire. We're three months out from fight day, and already these guys are popping off.
I giggle just thinking about it.

I’m sort of annoyed that Diego has to take another fight before a title shot. I really think he has earned a shot, as he is CLEARLY one of the top three in 170. I don’t know what he or the UFC is waiting for. I realize that 170 is filled with talent, but if he beats Koscheck, I truly believe he deserves a shot right away. Even before Hughes gets another chance.
Having said that, Sanchez-Koscheck is a hell of a fight. This will be a war. I would just prefer to see it after Diego has taken the belt from GSP. I envision that possible scenario as being much more thrilling than how this would/could unfold. Man, I love to make assumptions!

I am looking forward to this fight more than any other on that card (GSP will should dominate Serra and we don’t know who Swick is fighting yet). This one could go either way- When they fought on the show Sanchez was a one-dimensional, but dominant submission wrestler and Kos was a dominant wrestler/Ground & Pound guy. After seeing Sanchez knock out Riggs and watching Kos evolve I think it will be a different fight for sure. My money is on Diego but I won’t be surprised either way.

I hope Diego sends him back to the used car lot. Kos has skills but please beat a contender before you start appointing yourself the chosen one. Defeating Goulet and Joslin isn’t exactly making history.

i hope diego ko out koscheck. koschecks last fight was fucking boring i fell asleep watching it. diego had a bad night aganst alessio it was his first fight back from his sickness. he has improved a lot if they fought again diego would dominate him.

After this fight the winner should get to face Matt Hughes. If either 1 manage to beat Hughes(thats a big if) then they are ready to get a fight with GSP.

the winner = Sanchez. I think he still needs 1 more fight to finish off his contract (is that right?) in order for him to WANT to challenge the champ.

Koschek is an athlete, of epic ability, no doubt. But Nightmare is a FIGHTER and the top levels of MMA is for FIGHTERS. Result: Sanchez TKO Rd. 2

As much as I dislike “human blanketing” if that gives Diego his first loss, I’m all for it.

i dont understand why every one wants to ride Diegos nutts…he hasn’t faught any one of more that average ability, and if some one says “joe riggs” imma slap ‘em, Joe Riggs is done, and has been done since way before diego got his hands on him. Diego is a good fighter, but he’s no nightmare, more like a wet dream…regardless it’s gunna be a good fight with KOS the winner.

Since this is Diego’s last fight on his current contract,I think he’s lookin to go out in a big way.Despite what we’ve seen from these two (the majority being ground wars) I think they’re both lookin for the KO. If this fight goes to the ground it will be out of desperation. I agree with Diego, Koschek’s got shit for hands. Diego’s got more of a boxer’s stance then Koschek. All of his camp Jackson teammates are winning impressive stand-up victories, they must be training like crazy. This fight won’t go the distance, Koschek’s got nothin to prove by holding Diego down, he’s gonna try to bang with Diego and get KO’d proper.

FlaadogDiego is waiting to make more money before he goes for the title. He is still working off his TUF contract. Why fight for pennies when you can fight for dollars. I know it some is kind of sell outish but the key work in sell out is “SELL”. Money makes the world go round, as well as making the cage and the fighters in it go round. Diego, if he beats Kos, will have a title shot after this fight (I forgot how many he had left, there was six for a $100k).

MR.MURDA Diego fought Karo Parisian. Karo is in the top of that of weight class. He did not beat him like everyone else, I think he sdqueaked out the victory, but Karo is a solid and a champion quality fighter. On the Joe Riggs tip, yeah he is not what he used to be but he did knock him the F#@K out, and to Diego’s credit in the 30 some odd fights that Riggs has no one was able to do that. I still think Diego should have to fight a Mat Hughes or a BJ Penn guy before getting a title shot. Diego has not paid near the amount of dues those guys have!
by Ray on Feb 14, 2007 7:32 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
Jesse got it right. Kos has fought no one of quality, and when he did, he ate a knee to the dome. Sanchez is there already. He doesnt need anymore fights to earn his shot. He should have got it after beating Karo.
He wont face Hughes soon either, Dana will be saving that one.
And no, I dont think that was Diego on Kos’s MS page. I’ve heard him speak, and he just doesnt sound like that. He sounds pretty dumb, yes, but not that dumb! Check out his 15 min mind emptying interview on Dailymotion. You’ll wanna be high for it, because I think Diego was.

Koscheck doesn’t deserve this fight like Lytle doesn’t deserve Hughes. The card should be Hughes vs. Diego and Lytle vs. Koscheck.

Ray,
Roger that. That makes total sense, and I had not realized it. The business side of this sport is interesting. Especially within the UFC. I think the decent thing for the UFC to do would be to restructure contracts with their top fighters. The major sports do that all of the time. Now, I know what the UFC is thinking. Why would we pay Diego 150k when we can pay him 20k. I get that.
It will be interesting to see if the fighters follow suit and go the way of unions just as all major sports have. I could see that never happening because of the culture of martial arts. And I’m sure the UFC and other organizations have thought of that and are doing what they can to avoid it happening someday. Then again maybe it could happen.
Just thinking out loud.
Savior, I totally agree! But then again, there is this money crap. I guess this does shed some light on how some fight cards are shaped? Maybe.

Josh " THE EGO KILLER" Koscheck
Tell me people how can Diego who was a seasoned MMA fighter beat Josh when the first time they fought all he could pull off was decision againt a 100 % wrestler with no knowledge of Jiu Jitsu or Muah Thai or boxing, this guy has evolved and come along way there is no fricken way Diego will pull this off

I think this fight totally makes sense, apparently koscheck has begging for diego for a while, diego fought in december and if they waited to give him a title shot it would be late in the year without a fight, as dana, hughes and st.pierre want the hughes/st.pierre 3 rematch. The diego/kos first fight was very close and both have improved since that fight so I can’t seen either guy have much of an advantage. On a radio interview st.pierre was asked about the fight between diego and koscheck and he thought it would be 50/50 and I totally agree with him. I think both guy’s are pretty impressive and have a lot to offer the ufc. I’m looking forward to seeing st.pierre fight but can’t imagine serra even coming close to taking him down, the only guy I feel has much of a chance at a take down would be a very determined hughes. Any way I think ufc 69 over all will be exciting with st.pierre getting his first title defense against a guy who is probably not in the top 15 fighters.

…i just wanted to take back my previous prediction, i just re-watched fight night in miramar, and i now feel “KOS” will lose against Diego, i dont like Diego…i think he’s a goofy f@#k but Josh has no hands, he can probably take sanchez down a few times but wont be able to finish him. my money is on Diego putting KOS to sleep @ the beginning of the second round.
by MR.MURDA on Feb 20, 2007 1:53 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
..and another thing, i agree with the statement that Diego will get “smashed on” if put in the same cage as Hughes, GSP or BJ.
by MR.MURDA on Feb 20, 2007 1:56 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
…and further more BJ would wrap up Diego like a sex gimp and submit him, Hughes would slam him threw the mat and put him in a coma, and GSP would round house kick Sanchez’s liver out his mouth and into Jenna Jameson’s lap.
ok im done!!!

Mr Murda is full of shit cause matt hughes is already ducking diego sanchez to take this chris lytle fight. hes scared of being forced right out of contendership by receiving double losses, and bad ones seeing as the deigo sanchez knockout of matt hughes will likely be one for the highlight reels.
and furthermore st pierre must know that his next real challenge will not be the impending hughes rematch but the sanchez fight this fall.

Anyway I’m just not impressed by him, he needs to fight Hughes, GSP or BJ…and WIN, but until that happens don’t go walking around talking about how you’re the uncrowned champion…
…if he does that (beat one of the top 3) ill buy a Diego Sanchez t-shirt…put it on and cook dinner for you and your family…and ill give your dog a hand job, but the sad fact is that will never happen.

Point is, Diego’s winning streak will end soon, might not be at the hands of KOS, but it will happen…he will never be champion unless GSP falls victim to a vicious bear attack, but even then i dont think the bear has a chance…
…however i bet the bear could probably beat Diego’s a$$.

Like them or not both of Kos and Sanchez have bother improved. Kos doens’t stand a chance if the fight stays standing up as Joslin was destroying him on the standup in their fight. Diego on the other hand can standup and throw them. Kos’s only shot at winning this fight if he can keep it on the ground and get the judges vote!

i’ll remember that big guy, i hope you can cook better than you can predict fights numbnuts. and what are you talking about with the whole spelling thing? i guess i missed that.
however i did figure out the reason you hate diego so bad is that your a joe riggs fan. am i right? do you sit around and dream about him or what? if i am right then i understand why you hate diego after that embarrassing ko for the joe riggs fan club.
and ft murda since your obviously in the riggs fan club as well, you might be happy to hear riggs is out of the ufc and on to where he might have a chance of being champ, that rinky dink little organization for has beens and never will be’s.

i also cannot believe that you people consider GSP, hughes, and Penn to be the top 3 welterweights. ok obviously GSP is the champ so thats a given, but hughes? man what a chump to take the chris lytle fight, and to be honest i dont think he could win even if he did take the GSP rematch, i mean face it hes washed up. and Penn dropped to lightweight so hes not in the running at all in my book, and even if he was he keeps losing, and obviously doesnt train to the fullest of his ability( too much pot smoking).

by the way to clear that up i have nothing against pot smokers or pot smoke for that matter, i just happen to believe that Bj is extremely naturally gifted and if he really applied himself there would be no stopping him.

by jesse on Feb 23, 2007 7:11 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
actually jesse I like gsp and hughes and for some reason I hate diego sanchez, don’t really know why. Sorry about that stuff earlier…kinda immature of me. I take this stuff a little too seriously I think, I need to relax. I was more shocked when gsp kicked matt in the head, I figured it would be the most competitive fight of 2006. I was pissed when sanchez knocked out rigg’s though if that makes you feel better, real pissed. Yes hughes is one dimentional but so is liddel, and it works for him so I think guys just need to do what works for them. If a fighter can take anyone down and are amazing at ground and pound then they would probably beat all the well rounded guys out there. Liddel is incredibly hard to talk down and is a crazy striker but he looks like a fish out of the water on the ground. If he fought someone like I mentioned earlier with amazing take down ability and can keep guy’s down liddel would be in big trouble. Hughes is very good on the ground and probably the best next to penn but weak on his feet as gsp showed. Sorry jesse but I think diego is a little over rated and think koskeck will be a hand full for him.
by nathan on Feb 23, 2007 9:25 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Koshcheck will be more than a handfull for Diego Sanchez. Diego is too overrated just because he’s undefeated in MMA. I’ve mentioned it before and I’ll mention it again. Diego has only fought B rated fighters and the action wasn’t that stunning. If he somehow gets through Koscheck he will not beat Matt Hughes or George St. Pierre.
by Tyler on Feb 26, 2007 3:30 PM EST reply actions 0 recs

You guys are crazy… Diego will KO Kos. I know you all hate Diego because he is undefeated, but it is what it is for a good reason. Look at the rankings…Karo and Diaz are in the top 10. Granted Diego has rarely been challenged, but has it really ever crossed your mind that maybe…he really is that good? I don’t hear you questioning GSP destroying Matt. Diego deserves the shot after the Kos tune up fight. Im sure Diego vs Matt will happen as soon as his contract expires. But I’m sure you’re all stuck in your cheezy opinions, and thats fine by me. I guess you have to see it to believe it. Any wagers? Until then fellas— Diego “The Nightmare” Sanchez..kicks ass

Koschek is far more cocky than Sanchez. Sanchez is no way as loud as a lot other wrestlers in MMA. When GSP first fought Karo he said that was the hardest fight he’d ever had. Nick Diaz knocked out Robbie Lawler and is one of the toughest guys in MMA. You can call them B rate if you like, but Koschek has fought no one like these. And if you truly are an MMA fan and Im not talking Griffin and Bonner slugging it out, how could you not have found the action when Diego fought these two (Diaz / Karo) stunning. They were a lot better than most of the Hughes fights that I’ve ever seen, and they were two of the best fights period. Diego proved himself by beating these two, beating Riggs should have guaranteed him a Hughes fight. What the hell has Koschek done and who has he beaten to get his shot at Diego. I hope Diego knocks that blonde afro off of his head. Wanker.
by Ade on Mar 9, 2007 8:54 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
what the hell koscheck hasn’t beaten anybody real big. the only big namer he has really fought was drew ficket who he should have put away quick, but wound up getting choked out by. diego on the other hand is undefeated and has beat a lot of big names like riggs (if you knew anything about riggs you’d know he’s no joke as he stood toe to toe with cabbage, beat herb dean, and has a whos who list of defeated opponents), karo parysian (who beat ficket who beat koscheck), nick diaz. as far as the alessio fight alessio is an awesome fighter with one of the best trainers (jeremy horn), and to be honest its hard to fight someone who will jab you and run from you the entire fight. diego will kill koscheck and even though i think he’s a boring fighter he will get the title shot he deserves.
