UFC 69: Tickets on sale, Heath Herring possibly on card

ufc 69
Tickets for UFC 69: "Shootout," which will take place on April 7 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, are now available to the general public.

Over the weekend, UFC Fight Club members and newsletter subscribers were able to purchase them during exclusive presales. Now, everyone has a crack at some seats beginning at 10 a.m. CST.

Two welterweight match ups — Georges St. Pierre vs. Matt Serra and Diego Sanchez vs. Josh Koscheck — are already confirmed by UFC.com, as well as a middleweight showdown between Pete Sell and Thales Leites.

Heavyweight fighter Heath "Texas Crazy Horse" Herring is also rumored to make his UFC hometown debut, according to MMAWeeekly.com.

However, after his recent loss to Jake O'Brien at UFC Fight Night 8 — one of the ugliest, most boring fights in recent memory — I'm not sure if his presence will help or hurt ticket sales.

Here is the developing UFC 69 fight card (subject to change):

170 lb.: Georges St. Pierre (13-1) vs. Matt Serra (7-4)
170 lb.: Diego Sanchez (17-0) vs. Josh Koscheck (8-1)
185 lb.: Mike Swick (10-1) vs. Yushin Okami (19-3)*
155 lb.: Joe Stevenson (26-7) vs. Caol Uno (22-9-4)*
Hvywt.: Heath Herring (26-21) vs. TBA*
170 lb.: Luke Cummo (4-4) vs. Josh Haynes (7-7)*
185 lb.: Thales Leites (9-1) vs. Pete Sell (7-2)

Don't forget, even if the event sells out you can still find tickets on StubHub.com.

Can’t wait to see GSP in action. The Sanchez/Koscheck fight will be very interesting. And, even though I’d prefer to see Swick and Rich Franklin fight, Swick fighting Yushin Okami will be great to watch, since Yushin Okami beat Anderson Spider Silva just 1 year ago.

Looks like a great card, let’s not stink it up with the Texas Lazy Horse floping around like a beached whale. Maybe Dana can trade him back to Pride for a soda pop.

Yeah Heath looked like crap however I think Anderson Silva looked very poor against Travis Lutter

Yushin didn’t beat Anderson Silva: He lost due to disqualification… He was on his back, and Yushin was on top of him on his knees, and Anderson kicked Yushin in the head and ko’d as bad as I have ever seen! It was a bad ass move, and should have been legal. The rule is if a guy has both knees on the ground no kicking in the head… Even though Anderson Silva was on the ground on his back he was dq’d

I predict Mike Swick wins in DOMINANT fashion.

I can’t wait for the Sanchez-Koschek fight. As an athlete, Koschek is a phenom, but the top levels of MMA is for FIGHTERS, and Nightmare is a Fighter. Ask Joe Riggs whose stand-up was “2-3 years ahead” of Diego’s. But that was possibly another example of UFC recommended smack talk in hopes of hyping a fight, even a SPIKE freebie. And, it seems The Natural is also falling into step with the UFC marketing machine with his recent, uncharacteristic smack talk of his “friend” Tim Sylvia. Although it’s tough to blame him for trying to jack up his take home for his final fight/fights….after years of bustin ass and seeing the newcomers getting ready to seriously cash in.

BETHRM-

Weigh-in shows are traditionally free and open to the public — I don’t see the UFC reversing course in the next few months. If anything changes we’ll let you know. Congrats on this tix — the event is shaping up nicely.

At the ufc 67 ppv party someone asked how Evander Holyfield would do against a fight with the Iceman, Ufc Gloves but just boxing. I was wondering what my fellow ufc’ers would say about that matchup….

by Goldenboy on Feb 5, 2007 10:45 PM EST reply actions

I do not understand the rematch w/ Sanchez and Koscheck. In my book it should be Sanchez and Hughes, Koscheck and Parysian. Judo vs. big headed Wrestler, and Up-n-comming phenom against a possibly maxed out Hughes. These matchups would seem to put them in their place. Swick and Okami is good, after that Swick and Mcdonald should fight and the winner fight Silva. That would give Mcdonald good experience before he defeats Silva!!

mcdonald is a joke. he beat overrated leben and more overrated short fuse. who cares? lutter could beat him.

as for silva looking bad against lutter… i dont think so. are yall forgetting that he beat lutter at lutters game? sure the take downs were a little too easy, but look at the result.

Hell yeah !! Just got my tickets last night, I’d like to start early and Welcome all UFC MMA fighters/Camps/Fans to HTOWN, and where the Hell is the after parties??? We have one of the nicest Night life’s.

Holyfield hands down. Boxers do two thins, strike, and strike defense. They spend zero time on the other aspects relative to MMA. So, when it’s all said and done, the more practice, the more better.

Its all a conspiracy they will give macdonald a fight vs silva soon, so canadians will slowly take over…
