DeSouza weighs in on Alves scandal

We've been following the story about Thiago Alves (10-3) and his positive test for a banned substance since it broke in the aftermath of his win over Tony DeSouza (10-3) at UFC 66 on December 30. To catch up with all of our coverage click here.
Up until this point, we had only heard Alves' account of the allegations.
GracieMag.com recently caught up with the other man in the Octagon that night, DeSouza, who lost the bout courtesy of an Alves knee to the face.
Here's a snip from DeSouza:
I don't think that [banned substance] influenced the result. He came prepared to beat me and did. He simply had a better plan, executed it and got the best of me that day. To be honest, I hope he gives that stuff up, it will only hurt him down the road.
Interesting point of view from the Peruvian. But, I guess you can't expect anything less from a crafty veteran who feels that his preparation and performance could have been better.
While Alves was victorious over DeSouza, it looks as though the win will eventually be ruled a "No Contest" at a hearing with the Nevada State Athletic Commission on January 18.
