UFC calls off Canada event
All the Canadians who were geeked to cheer on their hero — UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre — in Montreal on April 7 are going to have to wait just a little while longer, according to the Canadian Press.
Dana White has once again made a promise he can't keep, calling off the would-be first ever UFC event north of the U.S. border.
Here's a snip from White in the article:
"Fell apart, unfortunately. There were a lot of different things that made that fight fall apart. I'm trying to regroup right now and figure out when we go to Canada."
White now says he "hopes" to hold a card in Canada in 2007. However, according to the article, he also has his eyes set on England and Mexico, in addition to a full U.S. schedule.
This entire event -- UFC 69 -- has just been a trainwreck since GSP floored then-champ Matt Hughes with a devastating kick to the neck at UFC 65.
First, Hughes bails on the rubbermatch. And now Montreal is put on the back burner.
Is it so hard to hold back, Dana, just a little bit?
He needs a muzzle.

This is a great loss for Canada. I certainly hope this didn’t have anything to do with politics. Typically, when something goes wrong in Canada, it’s a result of the government. That being said; I’m sure that Canada, including fans all over the country, would appreciate a little more information about this recent decision from Dana White.
