UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture to Appear on Spike’s 'Pros vs. Joes'

Randy Couture and Jacare on the set of Pros vs. Joes

The competitive fire still burns inside former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion Randy Couture despite his retirement from the Octagon on February 4, 2006.

Even if it means the MMA legend gets to wipe the mat with a bunch of wannabees.

"The Natural" will appear on the second season of the SpikeTV program "Pros vs. Joes," which debuts in January 2007. Pros vs. Joes "features regular guys competing in a variety of sports against an incredible array of sports legends."

Even though this announcement was made back in November, it's been getting a lot of attention lately after the commercials that aired during UFC Fight Night at Miramar last night. In a few shots, Couture was clearly visible.

We tracked down this snip from MMARingReport.com:

His [Couture's] latest role is in Pros vs. Joes, Spike TV's action-packed sports series that pits a team of average everyday Joes vs. a team of the world's greatest Pros. UFC Hall of Famer Couture was on the set filming the season premiere along with his fellow Pros Michael Irvin (five time NFL Pro Bowler & three time Super Bowl Champion), Glen Rice (three time NBA All Star) and Jose Canseco (six time MLB All Star).

Eric Dickerson, Wade Boggs, Darryl Strawberry, Bruce Smith, Roy Jones Jr., Andre Reed, John Starks, Vince Coleman, Kordell Stewart, Andre Rison, Tim Hardaway, Grant Fuhr, Rob Dibble, Rik Smits, Will Clark, Spud Webb, Kevin Willis, Randy Couture, Mark Jackson, Robby Ginepri, and Cobi Jones are also slated to make appearances this season.

Not really sure how any of these chumps are going to hang with such an accomplished wrestler and mixed martial artist. But, we guess that's the entire point of the show.

Expect to see a lot of spanking.

These comments are for all you serious UFC fans out there, who know the history of these fighters.

BJ PENN- okay- lets get down to brass tax here BJ

you know what I really think about you….
You have amazing talent, you showed all of us fans out there what skills you have in you last fight with Matt Hughes. In the first round you where dominating Matt. You know whats up here BJ, instead of just quickly trying to get in shape for this fight, you should seriously consider training hard and conditioning yourself for at least one year straight. If you did this you know you would and could take the WELTERWEIGHT BELT and be the CHAMPION!! Alot of people were confused with your fight with St. Pierre. I was not, because I clued in that your fight with Hughes was a better fight because you had a little bit more time to condition yourself. You have the talent, skills, but like alot of highly intelligent and talented people out there, you need a little more motivation and drive, thats it buddy! Come on BJ I and many others have not given up on you. We know you can do it. The reason why round two Hughes took you out was not about skill, it was about conditioning. How can you expect to beat someone who has been in top physical for 15 years, and you have only worked out decently for 90 days. You did AMAZING considering this. The same goes for your fight with St. Pierre. If you had the same physical conditioning as these two fighters, you would crush them….And as for you BJ, being in the corner supporting Desouza, what were you thinking!! You might have a big heart and be a good friend, but come on BJ don not shame yourself, you can train people much better than that! You do not want that type of unskilled fighter representing your training camp!!!

Come on Dana, call up BJ, offer him another fight against St. Pierre and Hughes, under 1 condition- get in top condition BJ and come back!!!!
