TUF 5 coach Jens Pulver talks about new season, Sherk,Lauzon and more
"People aren't gonna give two terds about me."
Gotta love Jens Pulver.
MMAFighting.com caught up with the former UFC lightweight champion recently and discussed many things, including the fan reaction and fame he will receive from coaching season five of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF).
‘Lil Evil' also touches on his disappointing upset loss to Joe Lauzon, as well as what it's going to take to unseat current 155-pound champ Sean Sherk.
Perhaps most important, Jens reveals whether or not he will fight the "other" TUF 5 coach at the TUF 5 finale. Even though it has yet to be officially announced, BJ Penn is widely rumored to have been tapped to fill the role.
Check it out:
With his colorful personality, Jens is just dynamite inside and outside the cage. There's no doubt that he alone will make TUF 5 worth watching.
And, don't forget, there is history between Pulver and Penn. Back in 2002, Pulver beat Penn via majority decision in a lightweight battle at UFC 35: "Throwdown." It's a fight that BJ Penn -- and many of those who saw the fight -- thinks he won.
Just a quick thought: BJ Penn has been grizzled over his dedication to training. In fact, many believe that he relies too heavily on potential and skill. If he does turn out to be the other TUF 5 coach, it will be interesting to see how he manages the training sessions and how the producers may portray them.
At any rate, can't wait.
