In an interview about his upcoming UFC welterweight showdown with Diego Sanchez on December 13, Joe Riggs didn't hide his disgust for former champ Matt Hughes.
Here's a snip from Riggs on BoxingTalk.com:
"I want to fight Matt Hughes again. I don't like that guy.... He's a disrespectful muthaf*cka – f*ck him!"
Those, maniacs, are fightin' words.
Apparently, Hughes commented to Riggs' wife, "Hey, Sorry I had to beat your husband up!" when the two were recently introduced.
Man, what a ballbuster.
Riggs, however, is going to have to put avenging that loss at UFC 56 on hold ... it's not happening anytime soon.
He's headlining Ultimate Fight Night (UFN) 7 with an undefeated "Nightmare," which will take place at the Miramar Naval Air Station in San Diego, California, in a little over a week from now.
It's an important fight for the 24-year-old striker out of Arizona. And, judging by the recent win-lose-win-lose-win (you get the idea) pattern, Riggs is due for a loss.
If that's the case, Dana White could decide to temporarily cut "Diesel" loose from the stacked UFC welterweight division, or have him try fighting again in the rather shallow middleweight class.
Because we all know the UFC doesn't reward inconsistency.
Look no further than David Loiseau.
