UFC UFN 7 -- UPDATE

With all the brouhaha over Hughes-St. Pierre 2 and Chuck-Tito 2 this upcoming Saturday and December 30, respectively, the UFC hasn't even mentioned Ultimate Fight Night (UFN) 7 on December 13.
(*Update: The full fight card is now available on UFC.com.)
That's probably because there are no tickets to be sold – the event will be held at the Miramar Naval Air Station in San Diego, California, before an estimated 3,000 members of the United States military.
We've known for sometime now that the marquee fight will pit welterweight contenders Diego Sanchez (17-0) and Joe Riggs (28-8) against one another with the winner most likely earning a title shot in early 2007.
Here is a snip from Sanchez in today's Los Angeles Times:
"Riggs is real strong and he hits hard; with every punch he tries to end the fight. Doing that, he gets tired, and he knows he doesn't want to get on the ground with me."
Other fights on the scheduled nine-bout card include:
170 lb.: Josh Koscheck (8-1) vs. Jeff Joslin (5-2)
205 lb.: Victor Valimaki (8-2) vs. David Heath (6-0)
170 lb.: Shonie Carter (34-15-7) vs. Marcus Davis (13-4)
170 lb.: Drew Fickett (30-4) vs. Karo Parisyan (23-3)
185 lb.: Logan Clark (7-0) vs. Steve Byrnes (6-0)
170 lb.: Keita Nakamura (13-0-2) vs. Brock Larson
170 lb.: Dave Menne (35-5-1) vs. Luigi Fioravanti (8-1)
185 lb.: Alan Belcher (8-2) vs. Jorge Santiago
The Sanchez and Koscheck fights should be extremely competitive. Riggs has to prove that he belongs in the UFC, and Joslin needs to demonstrate that his presence in the Octagon is long overdue.
Not only is this a great idea in terms of doing something positive for our service men and women, but it will also be "FREE on SpikeTV!" – and we all know just how much Dana White loves to say that.
We'll keep you posted on any and all changes to the lineup.
